Salesian’s Jabari Bird, Mitty’s Aaron Gordon and
Deer Valley’s Marcus Lee have all been selected to play in the McDonald’s High
School All-American Game in April.
All three are in the ESPN 100 and are/were being
looked at by all the top schools in the country.
Power forward Marcus Lee committed to Kentucky
earlier this season to help add to what s considefred the best recruiting class
ever at Kentucky. He is one of five Kentucky bound players playing in the
McDonald’s All-American Game this season.
Shooting guard Jabari Bird committed to Cal
earlier in the year.
Small forward Aaron Gordon hasn’t committed yet,
but he has offers from Arizona, Kentucky, Oregon, Cal, Washington, Kansas, New
Mexico, San Diego State and UNLV. His older brother played at New Mexico.
Gordon can go wherever he wants. Wherever he
chooses to go, he will get playing time right away.
The Bay Area is a hub for extreme talent this
year in boys basketball. With Bird, Lee and Gordon in the McDonald’s
All-American Game, people will start to look at the Bay Area as being one of the
hotbeds for high school basketball and start trying to compare it to Chicago and New York
in the coming years.
