Bay Area Baseball Rankings

By Chris Jackson                                                 Tuesday April 7, 2015
1. College Park (7-2)
Joe DeMers recorded 14 strikeouts in a 6-1 victory over Berean Christian. Willie MacIver added a home run and two RBI's. St. Mary's-Stockton will be its first round matchup at the Elite 8 Tournament on Wednesday.

2. Los Gatos (15-1)
Winners of 10 straight, Los Gatos has jumped to #2 in the latest rankings. Impressive victories over St. Francis-Mountain View and Valley Christian-San Jose have highlighted the streak. Brooks Olesek allowed two runs in seven innings pitched in the 5-2 win against Valley Christian.

3. Valley Christian-San Jose (12-3)
Kyle Marinconz and Mark Quinby drove in the only runs in a 5-2 loss to Los Gatos. It has now lost two of four heading into the Crown Classic Tournament.

4. Mitty (11-4)

Since losing by one run to 12-2 Stockdale-Bakersfield and Oak Ridge, it captured victories over Yuba City (4-3) and Pacific Grove (9-1) to round out the Boras Classic.  Stanford bound Kris Bubich is 5-1 with a 0.97 ERA.

5. Bellarmine (12-2)

The Bells outscored Liberty-Bakersfield and Stockdale-Bakersfield 17-0 to capture two straight victories. Justin Dziuba allowed one hit through five innings in the 13-0 rout of Liberty.

6. De La Salle (4-4)
UCLA commit and future first rounder Justin Hooper dazzled in a 3-0 win at Granada, allowing just one hit and no runs through five innings. Cameron Schnedier followed up that performance with a complete game three hitter in a 4-0 victory over Livermore. They will compete in the National Classic this week.

7. St. Francis-Mountain View (10-3)

Brandon Engel's game-winning single in the 10th inning extended the Lancers win streak to five after the 1-0 victory over Clovis West.

8. San Benito (16-2)

It has won 12 of 13 since being shutout by Valley Christian-San Jose. The dominance looks to continue through the Crown Classic this week.

9. Serra (10-5)
James Outman had a pair of triples and RBI's in a 7-2 victory over Elk Grove, capturing a third place finish in the Boras Classic. A 5-4 loss to WCAL foe St. Francis came in the semifinals.

10. San Ramon Valley (6-2)

Following a 5-2 loss to Livermore, Joey Matulovich struckout 14 batters in a 4-2 win at Amador Valley. Matulovich is 3-1 with a 0.99 ERA heading into the San Luis Obispo Tournament.

11. Vintage (14-2)

Before a surprising loss to Napa, two RBI's from Jacob MacNichols catapulted it to a 4-3 victory over Rodriguez.

12. Maria Carrillo (9-2)
Posting a combined 22 runs these past three contests, it won its last three games to  claim the consolation prize at the Boras Classic.

13. California (6-3)
Stellar outings from Mike Podany and Liam Steigerwald last week have the Grizzlies sitting at 2-0 in EBAL, beating Amador Valley and Foothill. Podany has a 0.32 ERA through 22 innings pitched this season.

14. Amador Valley (6-2)

Two straight losses to Cal and San Ramon Valley ended the Dons six game win streak as they're now 0-2 in East Bay Athletic League Play. Golden Valley awaits in the San Luis Obispo Tournament.

15. Redwood (11-1)
Redwood has won 10 straight and has recorded three shutouts during that span.

16. Monte Vista (6-2)
The Mustangs have won five straight and are off to a 2-0 start in EBAL, beating Foothill and Granada this past week. Daniel Wilson is hitting .522 with 11 RBI's and 5 doubles.

17. Liberty (8-4)

Since losing its first two games, the Lions have won 8 of 10, featuring huge victories over Cal, Foothill and Livermore.

18. Livermore (7-4)
Since beating San Ramon Valley for the third straight time, the Cowboys have lost three straight, with the defeats coming to De La Salle, Freedom and Liberty. Thomas Triantos lowered his ERA to 0.25 after the San Ramon Valley game.

19. Cardinal Newman (9-3)

In the past four games, the offense has scored a combined 30 runs to extend its record to 9-3. A recent 13-4 trouncing of Windsor capped it off.

20. Foothill (7-3)

The Falcons have lost three of four after getting off to a 7-0 start. The pitching staff allowed a combined 22 runs in the three defeats.

21. Heritage (9-3)
The Patriots have won four of five, including a recent 9-1 drubbing of Riordan. A victory over Cal is also notable.

22. Marin Catholic (7-3)
After a 6-4 loss to Novato, Brandon Buckley tossed a complete game shutout in a 5-0 victory over Branson.

23. Casa Grande (7-5)

All five losses have come by a combined six runs. The defeats include Bellarmine, Heritage, Maria Carrillo, Marin Catholic and Vintage. A 15-6 rout of Montgomery helps it maintain its high ranking.

24. Milpitas (12-4)

James Santos allowed one run in seven innings and also had three RBI's in a 6-1 victory over Mountain View.

25. Arroyo (8-3)
The six game win streak came to a surprising end in a 1-0 loss to Alameda. However, it bested that same Alameda team two days earlier, 7-2. Tim O'Dalaigh had four RBI's and a triple in the win.
