1. Bishop O'Dowd (1-0)
Led by returning juniors Ivan Rabb and Paris Austin, basketball glory should return
to O’Dowd, and a berth to the state championship appears imminent. Rabb is rated
as the number three overall recruit in the class of 2015 on ESPN. Juwan Anderson
is also another key element for the Dragons at guard. WACC and NCS titles should
surface comfortably, and Castro Valley will be its toughest test in a league
play. A decisive 90-76 victory over Fresno powerhouse Bullard showcased the
Dragons potential. Competing in the Tarkanian Classic this weekend in Las Vegas
will help them surface even more against some of the fiercest competition. The
tournament also features prominent programs in Long Beach Poly, Modesto
Christian, and Sheldon.

2. Newark Memorial (2-1)
The defending NCS Division 2 champions are on the cusp of another dominant season.
Led by guard Joey Frenchwood, everything is falling into place. Alongside
Frenchwood is Damien Banford and Matt Thomas, who are all receiving college
interest. Assuming all goes well, another NCS title will come to Newark. A
monstrous 64-50 victory over Modesto Christian has helped its cause for the No.

3. St. Patrick/St. Vincent (4-1)
Despite losing four-star and Fresno State football commit Jalen Canty for eligibility
reasons, many players return for a loaded St. Patrick/St. Vincent squad, such as
Ryan Stewart and Jose Flores. Although it hasn’t been one of the strongest
schedules in the early going, the Bruins are still capable of having a
tremendous season. Despite Canty’s high school hoops career ending, this team is
poised for another immense season.

The Alamo team strikes again. Led by Cal Poly guard commit Trevor John, the Mustangs are destined to compete for NCS and NorCal titles. A significant 19-point victory over Moreau Catholic has helped its cause for a No. 5 spot. Forward Spencer Rust appears to be a college level talent as well, and Grant Jackson has been a vital piece in their success so far. Freedom will be a tough test for them on Tuesday in Alamo.
