De La Salle Wins in Extras, Tied for 1st in EBAL

PLEASANTON, CA-More late inning magic was the story in the East Bay Athletic League.
Michael McAdoo's go-ahead double in the top of the ninth inning lifted the visiting De La Salle Spartans to a
3-1 victory at Amador Valley on Friday.
The Spartans refused to lose after trailing 1-0 and failing to capitalize with runners on base. After leaving seven
men on through the first three innings, the offense finally converted in the fifth inning as Andrew Schatz hit a
sacrifice-fly to center to knot it up at one apiece.
Amador had chances in the bottom of the seventh. After getting the bases loaded with one out, Andrew Crabill
drilled a liner to second, only for the runner to be out at second as well on the double play and send it into extras.
Neither team could score in the eighth, but Amador got a runner on base after AJ Curtis singled. However, he
was caught stealing at second to end the inning.
McAdoo's double gave the Spartans the final lead and then he scored on a balk to make it 3-1 and crush Amador's
comeback hopes. Collin Miller did lead the inning off with a double, but he was stranded as Connor Redmond
recorded a strikeout, lineout and groundout to finish it off.
Amador Valley's lone run came on an RBI groundout from shortstop Steven Nice in the bottom of the first, making
it 1-0. Nice also recorded one of the teams meager four hits.
Anthony Trucco was keeping the lead intact on the mound all the way into the fifth inning, getting out of multiple
jams and making it appear that the Dons could notch their first EBAL victory. Although he couldn't record the win,
he allowed just three hits through four innings against a loaded De La Salle squad.
De La Salle lefty Justin Hooper impressed the MLB scouts in attendance, striking out five, giving up one hit and one
run (none earned) through five innings. Connor Redmond came in for the final four innings and his ability to get
out of the seventh inning was a crucial turning point in the contest.
With the victory, De La Salle improves to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in EBAL, with its lone league loss coming on Wednesday
to Foothill. It is tied with Livermore, Monte Vista and San Ramon Valley in first place.
Amador Valley drops to 8-6 overall and 0-4 on EBAL, tied with Granada at the bottom of the standings. This weeks
two losses came by a combined three runs, with the one on Wednesday coming to Livermore in a thriller.
