DUBLIN-After a rugged start for Dublin, they were able to make
up for that bad start as they outscored Concord 67-44 after the first quarter en
route to an 86-69 rout of Concord.
It was a rapid start for Concord. The Minutemen started up 22-12
midway through the first quarter and were getting an infinite amount of lanes to the basket. They were up 25-19 at the end of the first quarter.
6’2” senior captain Yarlek Farley led the way for Concord
scoring 21 points. He scored 11 of his 21 points in the first quarter. But he
sat out most of the second quarter as he got into some early foul trouble.
A huge block by JoJo McGlaston, who recently committed to Utah
State, changed the complexion of the game as there was a huge momentum swing.
From that point on, Dublin dominated Concord similar to the way they did in
their first meeting of the season, which Dublin won 78-43 in their annual Don
Nelson Classic .
McGlaston has many thunderous plays. He had two huge blocks
accompanied by three dunks, two of them were monstrous dunks. One of them was a
tip-in dunk and the other was a two-handed slam that got the crowd to get
extremely loud. He finished the game with 21 points while making four
three-pointers.
Seniors Jamir Andrews and Cameron Moses also had huge games.
Both finished with 22 points.
Cameron Moses did most of his scoring near the hoop as he was a
great attacker and very aggressive to the hoop forcing fouls and using the
backboard to help score a huge chunk of his points. He also finished the game
with eight rebounds.
Without both Andrews and Moses, Dublin could have been shutout
in the first quarter. They were the two main contributors at the start as they
scored way over half of their teams points in the first quarter.
6’8” big man Eric Nielsen finished the game with a team high
nine rebounds for the Gaels and had a fantastic dunk in the first half.
· Concord was unable to qualify for the Northern California regional playoffs since they
didn’t beat Dublin. Dublin was able to qualify because they have finished in the
top four teams in the division.
· Dublin star JoJo McGlaston committed to Utah State this week. He also had offers from
Sacramento State and San Jose State.
· Dublin
will face three seed Mt. Eden on Wednesday night at 7:00 in the semifinals. The
game will be played at Dublin since they are the two seed.
