Fans Player of the Year: Kahlil McKenzie
By Chris Jackson Tuesday December 24, 2013
The son of Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie, Kahlil had a monstrous junior season on one of the top defensive lines in the country. Totaling over 10 sacks (including the one shown above), McKenzie was named to 1st Team EBAL on defense. Although he wasn't the only star on De La Salle, he was a key part this season in leading the Spartans to the State Championship, along with coming out on top in NCS and Northern California. As a result, they closed out the season 14-1, only falling to Southern California powerhouse St. John Bosco (20-14) in the CIF open division championship. With one more season left to his high school career, McKenzie already holds offers from Arizona, Duke, Miami (FL), Ole Miss, Tennessee, Washington, Washington State, and Wisconsin, and as a result, is rated as 206th overall recruit in the ESPN 300 for the class of 2015.
