Foothill Opens EBAL in Style

PLEASANTON, CA-Arguably the biggest matchup in the East Bay Athletic League, Foothill proved once again that
it's the superior team in the league.
Kyle Kearns and Isaiah Floyd led a strong second half surge en route to the 40-28 Foothill Falcons victory over
San Ramon Valley, improving their record to 4-0 and beating the Wolves for the first time since 2008.
Floyd became the star player in the second half after struggling before halftime. In the first half, he rushed for
just 10 yards on 4 carries, but finished with 105 yards on 15 carries.
Two touchdowns from Floyd were the difference-maker, including a 58-yard touchdown reception with 11:50
remaining to give Foothill a 34-28 advantage and the lead for good.
The other touchdown from Floyd came on the ground as he gave the Falcons a 27-21 lead with 3:38 left in the third
as he ran it in from 24 yards out. Floyd's stellar display this season is starting to bring college recruiters on notice.
Kearns again proved his worth for SMU as he completed 13-of-23 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns, led by
a dominant first half as he threw for 120 yards.
San Ramon Valley nearly put the game in its favor after taking a 28-27 lead on a fake punt led to a touchdown for
Colin Clancy late in the third. After that, however, it was all Foothill's in the thrilling contest.
Momentum was pivotal in the affair as after Foothill took an early 14-0 lead, San Ramon Valley came right back after
an interception to tie it at 14 at halftime.
Cale Quistgard shifted the momentum back the Falcons direction as he reeled in a pick six and gave them a fast 21-14
lead in the second half. Although San Ramon Valley tied it back up, the interception by Quistgard had a drastic effect
on the outcome.
Now that Foothill is 1-0 in league play after the monster victory over the Wolves, it remains the favorite in Northern
California's toughest league. Tough tests with Amador Valley and Cal are left along with numerous others as it's on
the road to earning its first league title since 2006.
