By Chris Jackson Wednesday March 18, 2015
LIVERMORE, CA-More outstanding pitching did its part for Livermore.
Behind 6.1 innings from Cal Poly bound Thomas Triantos, the host Livermore Cowboys were able to capture
their sixth straight victory by beating the Northgate Broncos, 4-1.
Triantos allowed just five hits and one run (none earned) and struckout eight batters. Junior lefty Brian Martinez
came in and earned the save, helping add to a spectacular start from Triantos. Although Martinez is also a starter,
they have a two week break and he helped show why they have one of the regions top pitching staffs.
The win didn't come easy, however. Martinez inherited runners on first and second wirth one out in the seventh,
but managed to escape. A popout and a strikeout notched another impressive nonleague victory.
Adding to the pitching was stellar offensive performances from the Foscalina brothers, Dominic and Jake, alongside
an RBI double from Logan Cole. His double pushed the Cowboys advantage to 3-1 in the fourth as Kevin Key came
around to score.
Jake Foscalina delivered the most impressive offensive performance, hitting a pair of doubles and driving in a run.
His double in the third inning helped tie it at one one and started a rally.
Dominic Foscalina drove in Jake on a single one batter later and that put Livermore up 2-1 and that was all they
needed.
Northgate's lone run came on a single from Chris Hogan in the top of the third. Brian Wright added three singles but
wasn't able to drive in any more Northgate baserunners.
With the win, Livermore is now 6-1 heading into always challenging East Bay Athletic League play to start out April. It
travels to San Ramon Valley and De La Salle to start it all out.
Northgate falls to 4-4 and has now lost three straight. The Broncos will look to get back to their winning ways as they
face Windsor in the Al Rabinovitz Tournament at Santa Rosa next Tuesday.
