Cowboys EBAL Dominance Continues After 5-3 Win Over Foothill

By Chris Jackson Friday April 24, 2015
LIVERMORE, CA-Once again, the Cowboys proved their worth in the wild and wacky East Bay Athletic League on
Friday.
Behind a three run fourth inning, the Livermore Cowboys defeated the visiting Foothill Falcons, 5-3, improving
to 5-1 in one of the nations toughest leagues.
Livermore's candid season continues to dazzle and is highlighted by wins over California and De La Salle. A 5-1
EBAL record has it sitting in first place along with 12-4 overall record.
Foothill took a 3-2 lead in the top half of the fourth after a Vincent Tanisawa scored as right fielder Justin Mitchell
lost the ball in the sun. That advantage spanned under five minutes.
An RBI groundout from Tylor Silva tied it at three and Logan Casey gave them a 4-3 lead on a single. Ryan Ruley's
sacrifice-fly to center extended it to 5-3 and capped off the three run inning, also becoming the final run either team
could muster.
Ruley's terrific week was beneficial in both wins, especially today as he recorded three RBI's. He also delivered an
RBI single in the third following an error to make it 2-0 Cowboys in the third inning.
Jake Foscalina was Livermore's most productive hitter, however, tallying a double alongside his three hits. He
catapulted
his batting average to .500 and is one of EBAL's top hitters. Despite not playing in his junior season, his dominance
has many fans buzzing about his impressive campaign.
Livermore's pitching held its own for a majority of the game as well. Brian Martinez tossed three scoreless innings
before surrendering three runs in the fourth inning. Although he couldn't record the victory, he is 5-1 on the year
and is one of the area's top 2016 pitchers.
Dominic Foscalina was able to escape multiple jams, including a thrilling sixth inning. With a runner on second and
one out, he forced Ruben Mercado to groundout and proceeded to strikeout freshman Sam Novitske to get out of
the inning.
Joe Danckert's five innings on the mound weren't enough for Foothill, allowing five runs (two earned) and giving up
six hits.
Foothill fell to 3-3 in EBAL and 11-5 overall, but still holds impressive victories over De La Salle and San Ramon Valley.
It now sits two games back of first place, led by Livermore.
