By Chris Jackson Saturday January 4, 2013
SAN ANTONIO, TX-Two weeks after announcing his top three programs, Freedom five-star running
back Joe Mixon ended the recruiting process, making his verbal commitment to Oklahoma on Saturday
at the US Army All-American Bowl Game.
Mixon's committment to Oklahoma comes just two days after the Sooners stunned Alabama in the
Sugar Bowl 45-31.
As a senior, Mixon rushed for 1704 yards and 23 touchdowns helping lead the Falcons to the NCS
Quarterfinals along with totaling 51 Division 1 offers.
Recruiting sites ranked Mixon as the #2 overall running back accoring to Rivals and #9 at his position
in the ESPN 300.
Before committing to the Sooners, Mixon's Top 3, which he announced on December 21, included
Oklahoma, UCLA and Wisconsin, with many projecting him to commit to either Oklahoma or Wisconsin
due to the high-caliber running backs they've produced.
Mixon will be following the footsteps of his favorite NFL athlete, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson,
who was also a Sooner before competing professionally.
