MVAL Basketball Preview
By Chris Jackson Thursday January 2, 2013
Top Team: Moreau Catholic
Coach Frank Knight's squad is young and talented, especially with emerging 6'1" freshman guard Damari Milstead. Already holding offers from terrific basketball programs in Cal and New Mexico State, Milstead has been a tremendous part in the Mariners success, becoming a star offensively and defensively averaging 17 points and 4 steals per game. But Milstead isn't the only stud underclassmen on Moreau. Sophomore Oscar Frayer is another emerging local star. Frayer is already listed at 4-star by Rivals recruiting experts. However, Frayer isn't the only contributing sophomore, as guards Brandon Lawrence and Armond Simmons have been crucial pieces in their 8-3 start thus far. The Mariners future looks extremely bright, and if they become a nationally ranked team in a couple of years, don't be surprised.
