Ivan Rabb COmmits To Cal
By Chris Jackson Monday April 13, 2015
OAKLAND, CA-The recruiting drama is finally complete.
Bishop O'Dowd big man Ivan Rabb broke the silence, announcing his commitment to the Cal Bears
during a press conference at Ol' Yeller Cafe 'N' Market in Oakland.
Rabb's decision comes two weeks after claiming the heralded California State Championship. After air-balling
the first free throw, he drilled the next one to give the Dragons the title with 0.8 seconds left in overtime, getting
revenge on the four time defending champion, the Mater Dei Monarchs. He finished with 19 points and 20 rebounds as his
stellar play inside was the pivotal point in the contest.
ESPN ranks Rabb as the sixth rated overall recruit in the nation and the third best at power forward. He had
offers from Arizona, Cal, Kansas, Kentucky and UCLA before trimming his choices to Arizona and Cal.
Rumors had it that Rabb would commit after the state championship at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, coincidentally
the home of Cal. He ultimately decided to make it a night for his teammates regardless if he was actually going to
pick that evening or not.
Cal went 18-15 overall and 10-8 in the Pac-12 in its first year under head coach Cuonzo Martin. With the new style
and attitude Martin is bringing to Berkeley, the future of Bears basketball is filled with nothing but positives as they
look to become a potent force on the west coast.
