Three Run First Helps Foothill Escape Over Rival Dons
By Chris Jackson Friday May 22, 2015
PLEASANTON, CA-Despite Amador's recent string of success across the sports landscape in Pleasanton, Foothill was able to
get its name across this time around.
Behind a three run first inning, the Foothill Falcons (13-11, 5-9 EBAL) escaped in 4-3 fashion over the visiting Amador
Valley Dons (15-9, 7-7 EBAL).
Foothill's lead was almost diminished in the top half of the seventh inning. Entering with a 4-3 lead, two errors from
shortstop Griffin Chinn kept the inning going as the Dons managed to punch on the late fielding blunders.
Jake McIntosh launched a two run double to centerfield and cut the deficit to 4-3, giving Collin Miller a chance to tie it up
with two outs and the game on the line. Instead, Miller grounded out to third baseman Vincent Tanisawa and the regular
season was complete.
Patrick Loughnane's offensive success wasn't enough, hitting singles in his first two at-bats and becoming one of the few
consistent sources of offense all afternoon.
After Donald Camello allowed three runs in the first inning and already had 34 pitches, he settled down immediately and
tossed a seven pitch second inning. Over the next four innings, he allowed one more earned run and gave up five hits in
total.
The trio of runs in the bottom of the first was catapulted by Ryan Probst, who singled and stole second to get things going.
He scored on a Justin Goodman double to make it 1-0 and Stone Godi had an RBI single and scored on a wild pitch,
extending the Falcons advantage to 3-0.
Vincent Tanisawa drove in Foothill's final run in the fifth inning, bringing home Ryan Probst on a sacrifice-fly to left field
and pushing the lead to 4-1.
Three innings from starter Joe Danckert helped keep the early lead intact, allowing four hits and not surrendering a run.
Andrew Kroll tossed the final four innings and gave up three runs, with none of them being earned.
