Week 5 Games to Watch
#1 De La Salle @ Servite-Anaheim, Saturday @ 7:30 pm, Santa Ana Stadium
De La Salle (5-0) comes into this matchup at Santa Ana stadium with star running
back/defensive back Das Tautalatasi returning. He will look to add an extra
dimension to the Spartas offense. Running back John Velasco will be key for De
La Salle along with sophomore Antoine Custer and quarterback Chris Williams.
Servite (3-1) wants revenge after De La Salle beat them the last time they faced
(in the state championship). Despite finishing 3-7 last season, Servite returns
a good cast of young players, and features a strong run game and receiving core.
#2 Serra vs. #3 Bellarmine, Friday @ 7:00 pm, San Jose City College
Serra (2-1) is coming off a 48-15 drubbing of Buhach Colony, and is hoping to do the
same to rival Bellarmine (3-0). But Bellarmine features one of the top teams in
CCS, along with Serra. Serra will be looking to junior running back Kava Cassidy
on offense, who ran for 180 yards and two touchdowns last week. They will also
look for their defense to stop Bellarmine’s perennial offensive attack.
Bellarmine is highlighted by four-star Vanderbilt commit KJ Carta-Samuels. The
Bells are off to a hot start (3-0) after beating El Cerrito (28-25), San Leandro (31-21),
and Piedmont Hills (41-21).
#9 Amador Valley vs. #8 California, Friday @ 7:00 pm
Amador Valley (4-0, 1-0 EBAL) is seeking revenge on Cal (3-1, 1-0 EBAL) after getting
defeated 31-21 to the Grizzlies last season. Amador has one of the top defenses
in EBAL, led by junior linebacker Patrick Pipitone. The Dons offense is
highlighted by senior running back Michael White, who has rushed for 505 yards
and seven touchdowns this season. Cal features bruising running back Blake
Bierwith, who has totaled 696 yards and 11 touchdowns so far this season. They
also have dual-threat quarterback Cameron Owen, who has passed for 443 yards
and rushed for 157.
#13 Campolindo vs. Miramonte, Friday @ 7:00 pm
Campolindo (5-0, 1-0 DFAL) is off to one of its best starts in years after defeating El
Cerrito earlier this season and also beating Acalanes 24-14 last week. They are
led by star quarterback Andrew Zolintakis, who has thrown for 968 yards and ten
touchdowns this season. Miramonte (4-1, 1-0 DFAL) also has a strong air attack
led by senior quarterback Drew Anderson.
